Receiving requests to learn more from African
countries who participated in our program
last year as part of JICA training, we planned
inland fisheries training program tailored
to their needs. Four trainees from Benin,
Gabon, Cote d'Ivoire and Comoros took part
in the program from September 19 to September
28.
They took lectures including significance
of biodiversity conservation, endangered
species conservation, efforts regarding GIAHS
sites in Gifu and Ishikawa prefectures, attended
practical training pertaining to fish survey,
DNA analysis technique for fish disease diagnosis.
In addition, they went to angling ayu by
decoy, traditional methods of fishing called
Yana and Noboriochi, the Nagara river estuary
weir, and aquaculture farms on a field trip.
On the last day, we shared views with them
on their fishery issues and contents of our
training program.
