Trainees Accepted
from Africa


Following last year, we planned a training program on inland fishery for African countries, and received applications from Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon, Comoros and Benin. Four trainees from these four countries were accepted for training program from October 9 to October 18.

They took lectures on outline of fishery in Gifu Prefecture, inland fishery system, efforts regarding GIAHS in Gifu Prefecture and Isikawa Prefecture, catfish farming technique, visited aquaculture farms of catfish and sturgeon, fisheries cooperatives, Ayu hatchery, and participated in practical training on egg collection of red-spotted masu salmon and cultivation method of testicular sperm.

On the last day, we asked trainees about problems of their own countries’ fishery and exchanged opinions on the contents of this training program.
